Salt Life/Costa/Bote SUP & Kayak Fishing Tournament was Saturday, March 10th from 6am-12noon at the Pavilion at Cocoa Beach Country Club!

Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP) and kayak anglers had immediate access to fishing areas and a relatively short paddle to Cocoa Beach’s Thousand Islands area to fish the shallow grass flats and mangrove-lined islands of the Banana River Lagoon.  Competing for over $4,500 in prize-money ($12,000 total cash and prize purse), these anglers targeted trout, redfish, and catfish.

Entrants must have their own SUP or kayak for this tournament.

PLEASE NOTE:  Parking for all competitors and spectators was at Cocoa Beach High School.  We had shuttle buses taking people to and from the event.  (Competitors unloaded their paddle craft at the Country Club Pavilion before parking at the high school.  The Pavilion parking lot was only used as a loading/unloading point.)

Rules

Fish are judged using an overall length measurement taken by the angler with the official tournament sticker ruler. Sticker rulers will be given to all entrants at morning check in. Anglers must have photographic proof of fish and the official sticker ruler to qualify. There is no minimum length requirement. Only one fish measurement for each species is allowed. In order to be eligible to win the Grand Prize money, anglers must catch and release both a trout and redfish. In the Grand Prize category, the overall length of the anglers’ redfish and trout will be combined. The 1st, 2nd, and 3rd longest overall combined lengths will win the Grand Prize money. All anglers must launch from and return their paddle craft to the tournament event site: 5000 Tom Warriner Blvd., Cocoa Beach, FL 32931. Anglers are welcome to fish anywhere in the Banana River Lagoon after launching from the event sight. Any aid from motorized or electric vessels/motors is prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification; pedal or paddle power only. Rod and reel fishing only; spearfishing, netting, etc. is not permitted. Interpretation and enforcement of these rules shall be left exclusively to the Tournament Director. In the event of a rule violation, the Tournament Director may impose such sanctions as deemed appropriate by him or her, including without limitation, disqualification, forfeiture of prizes, entry fee and prohibition from participation in future tournaments.

In the event of a tie, the angler who reported back to the launch site first and reported their catch first would be the winner.
